Chiseling Inward: The Art of Self-Architecture
Life is a video game.
It’s an open world game that you can explore, within the confines of the sandbox, of course. We can’t leave Earth (yet).
The video game presents us with two distinct character roles: the employee and the entrepreneur.
Each embodies not just a profession, but a state of consciousness—a choice between conforming to reality or actively shaping it.
While I understand the argument that growth is possible within the confines of employment, for those who crave freedom and autonomy, it can feel inherently limiting.
Entrepreneurship is like playing an open-world game.
The map is vast, opportunities abound, and you can approach objectives freely. You face the truth of being 100% responsible for your outcomes. Every decision is a step towards shaping your reality.
In contrast, being an employee often feels like playing a linear game, where growth is possible but constrained by predetermined pathways.
While there are quests to complete and levels to achieve, the boundaries of the game world are predefined, limiting the scope of exploration.
Being an entrepreneur means being a rebel. Forging your own path and playing your own game.
I also view entrepreneurship as an incredible vehicle for spiritual evolution. It demands courage and resilience. It's a place where our deepest fears and insecurities are laid bare, inviting us to confront the shadows within and emerge reborn.
There are those who think building a business is solely an external game. They think it’s about working hard, grinding, and hustling.
No, my friend.
The real work is internal.
Out from the depths of the unconscious mind emerges limiting beliefs, self-doubt, imposter syndrome, etc. Many will experience these symptoms and quit.
I mean, I get it.
Facing your shadow is not for the faint of heart.
But if you are experiencing these things, guess what?
The work is working!
Your ego (bundle of beliefs you believe yourself to be) feels threatened. To save itself, it attempts to hook you back into these stories.
It will throw everything it can at you.
Beliefs I thought I released long ago creep through the woodworks and rear their ugly heads.
It gets intense.
But I’ve learned that when it gets intense, that means a belief is being transcended. A new level is being unlocked.
To have something you never had before requires you to become someone you’ve never been before.
I don’t think many people understand the implications of this statement. This means your current identity must die.
And that’s what the ego fears the most: its inevitable death.
As we become someone new, we release old habits, beliefs, and conditioning that no longer serve us. The bundle of beliefs we believed ourselves to be crumbles. Chiseling inward, bits of marble that held limiting beliefs fall to the ground.
A painful process, but one worth under-going.
Step into the fire of self-discovery. This fire will not burn you, it will only burn what you are not.

I’m in the beginning stages of shifting my consciousness from employee to entrepreneur.
Leaving behind the energy of being a line cook who is overworked and underpaid. Leaving behind sacrificing my nights and weekends for dinner service.
Moving towards autonomy, self-sufficiency, self-reliance, and creating cool shit for the world.
Embracing the unknown & having faith in the unseen.
The beginning stages of unlocking a new level and downloading the necessary character upgrades.
I’m going to share my method of self-architecture. This is my game plan for intentionally designing reality and becoming the person I need to become.
(This includes building a business around bringing the essence of your brand to life through unique visual identity and web design solutions. If you need a badass website, DM me ‘DESIGN’ on Instagram or Twitter to get started. Or go here.)
Step 1: Choosing Your Sector (The Vision)
In the video game of life, there are multiple sectors to play in.
The sectors you have access to are determined by the character you choose to play as.
Just as you unlock access to additional sections of the game map when you level up your character in a video game, you can unlock new opportunities and access new spaces as you level up in “real life.”
A McDonald’s employee probably doesn’t have the option to rent a luxury apartment. The sector is locked for this character role.
The good news is that you can hit pause, return to the main menu, and redesign your character.
Like designing a new player in NBA 2k—you choose which stats your character has the potential to excel in.
Things like ball-handling, 3-point shooting, and perimeter defense can be exchanged for coding wizard, master designer, and high-level performer.
But before we design our character, the first question becomes, what sector do you want to play in?
Once we gain clarity on our desired future, we can choose better actions in the present—actions that align us with the future we desire to create.
Get detailed.
- Where do you live? Location, housing, surroundings? What living situation would bring you the most joy?
- What are 3-5 goals that you have achieved?
- How has your lifestyle changed? What’s different? Routines?
- What type of work would you love to be doing?
I won’t give all the details of my vision, but it involves moving to a new state, getting my own place, and becoming more self-sufficient.
It involves trading my apron for a keyboard.
Step 2: Designing The Character Blueprint
Now loading the ‘Create A New Player’ screen….
This is the stage where you design your character blueprint.
Once you’ve taken the time to answer the previous questions, you know what sector you want to unlock.
Now the task is becoming the character that has access to that section of the map.
So who is that character?
Who is the type of person who has already achieved those things?
Dive deep into the details of this character—skills, habits, mindset. Consider how they align with this future version of you.
Skills: Based on the goals your future self has achieved—what skills do they have?
For example, I know my future-self is a master designer, with skills in web design, branding, and communication.
These are skills I can continuously work on in order to unlock the sector of the video game I want access to. Particularly, communication. This is a skill I know I lack significantly and need more experience (xp points) in.
Habits: Based on the goals your future self has achieved—what are their daily habits?
For example, I know my future-self prioritizes health & fitness. Daily habits I need to incorporate are getting my steps in.
Values: Based on the goals your future self has achieved—what are their values?
For example, my future self values health & fitness, autonomy, creativity, innovation, mastery, growth, and fun.
Step 3: Developing The Character
Picture this: you’re playing NBA 2K and you’ve just meticulously designed a high-caliber player.
But those are just your player’s potentials. The real work begins when you step out onto the floor as a rookie. Through gameplay and dedicated practice sessions, you strive to maximize your potential in each skill category.
You begin developing your player.
In each practice session, you choose what you want to work on.
Defense? Offense? What will the focus be this time?
The same goes for this video game of life.
It’s time for you to bring your character blueprint to life. It’s time to develop your character and maximize their potential through daily actions, productive time blocks, and setting milestones.
Goals can seem big and far away, this is why we break them down.
Set milestones: Break your goals down into milestones.
Losing 100 pounds can seem big and unattainable, so focus on the first 20 right now. Once you get there, the next milestone is 40, then 60, and so on. Celebrate yourself and your wins along the way.
Daily Actions: Take action on your daily habits and gain xp for your character.
For example, I said one habit of my future self was getting their steps in. This is making sure I get a minimum of 7k steps in.
I also said a skill I needed to improve was communication. For me, this means initiating more conversations with people.
Productive Time Blocks: Create space during the day dedicated to developing a skill. Learning and building.
For example, for me this is spending an hour a day dedicated to learning web design and branding.
Step 4: Grounding In The New Identity
I want to reiterate that self-architecture is not for the faint of heart. The plan seems simple, but it’s harder to execute.
I’ll admit—it absolutely terrifies me.
But that’s good.
It means my beliefs are being challenged. It means my identity is being stretched.
What’s normal for your future self will take extreme courage from you.
I recommend reading your blueprint everyday (3x if you can: morning, noon, night).
Constantly being reminded of your ideal future-self helps you align your daily actions to that version of you.
When I wasn’t reading my character blueprint every day—I fell into entropy. Aka, my life fell into disorder—but that’s a newsletter for another day. 😉
Confirmation (stacking proof):
Alex Hormozi says, “You don’t become confident by shouting affirmations in the mirror, but by having a stack of undeniable proof that you are who you say you are.”
James Clear adds, “Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become. No single instance will transform your beliefs, but as the votes build up, so does the evidence of your new identity.”
I have something called an identity jar. It’s not a real jar, just a cool name. Anyway, in this “jar” is where I stack evidence that I am becoming the person I need to become.
Every day I write in my journal and confirm new beliefs.
For example, after a coaching call, I felt like I was communicating better, opening up more, and allowing myself to be seen. I confirmed this in my journal and I wrote, “showing up at a higher level and speaking my truth.”
You don’t have to write everything down, you can take mental notes as well. When I go for a walk, a run, or choose healthier food—I affirm I am someone who values health & fitness.
This is how you ground in the new identity.
This is my plan of self-architecture and shifting into full-time entrepreneur, brand & web design alchemist, and digital creator.

Thanks for being here—until next time, my friend.
